Rescuing Building Materials
and Fixtures From Demolition

Total deconstruction on home

Urban Evolutions is currently deconstructing two-12,000 square foot luxury homes, located on Lake Michigan.

“Land and lot values are currently higher than the value of the physical structure on the property,” said Jeff Janson, Urban Evolutions co-owner and salvage expert. “With total deconstruction, our crews dismantle all or part of the home which allows us to recycle or repurpose up to 90% of the materials rather than sending it straight to the landfill as in traditional demolition.”

Materials salvaged from these sites include slate roof tiles, brick, flooring, windows, garage doors and all lighting fixtures.

“One of the most unique things we have been able to save are the marble fireplace mantles,” said Janson.

Urban Evolutions partners with Recyclean to help them find a home for the lumber. Some of the salvaged building materials and fixtures are being used in a home remodel in Madison. Other items are being sent to a reseller in Minnesota and the windows are being used in another project. Urban will also purchase lumber for its furniture, wall cladding and flooring inventory to sell.
