reclaimed rock elm flooring – uw madison

We were excited to be contacted by Workshop Architects of Milwaukee to provide reclaimed flooring for the University Wisconsin Madison for their Union South building. We also worked closely with HJ Martin on this sizable 16,000 sf project that is near and dear to our Wisconsin-based company.

The reclaimed elm for this project was rescued from a few dairy barns in the Manitowoc/Plymouth, WI area and a tobacco drying shed in Bosstown, WI.

Rock elm is an extremely hard wood, light in color with small chocolate brown knots and very little grain pattern, which takes darker stains very well. Common widths in this finished Reclaimed Rock Elm Floor are 4″ – 7″ and can be milled solid or engineered.

By rescuing wood from commercial demolitions and deconstructions, we are able to offer our clients a superior grade of product, both strength and appearance, while following ecologically sound reuse and recycle practices.
