Larson Development in Denver received the 2014 MAME Best Custom Home of the Year Award for this gorgeous house. Urban Evolutions is proud to have been a part of this award-winning, custom-built home, where we supplied:

In this residence, reclaimed tongue and groove elm and reclaimed oak flooring warm up the new construction in nearly every room. Reclaimed wall paneling is found in surprising places like hallways, staircases, a secret doorway, the sauna, and even in the garage, while salvaged barn wood cladding and timbers on ceilings subtly separate multi-use spaces.

One of the most impressive features of the house (especially for us cheeseheads) is the gym/grandchildren’s playroom.

Homeowners Debi and Jim Bashleben are originally from Wisconsin, so when we salvaged the floor of the Fieldhouse from UW Madison campus, they jumped at the opportunity to take a piece of home with them to their new retirement digs in Denver.

The gym floor has the (mostly) intact Wisconsin logo, and the walls are cladded in more reclaimed gym floor and reclaimed bleachers.

“The most frequent comment we get is that the home feels so comfortable, like its been around and lived in for years. Our friends and family just curl up, hang out and love the space,” says Debi.

Debi and Jim both have family roots in farming communities and find a comfortable familiarity with reclaimed barn wood. The Denver house is the second home the couple has built with Urban Evolutions.

“The experiences have all been full of creative energy and fun,” says Jim, “the Urban team does everything they need to do to deliver an exceptionally wonderful experience.”
