FOUR CHIMNEYS | DOOR COUNTY, WI

Set along the western shore of Wisconsin’s idyllic Door Peninsula, this beautiful family residence was designed by Mitch Wise (www.mitchwisedesign.com). The expansive European cottage–style home showcases reclaimed woods throughout, lending historic character and further blending the French country and rustic craftsman influences.

The exterior features a timber-frame porch, with trusses crafted from reclaimed hand-hewn white oak. This same wood carries through to the window lintels and pergola-like details, where gently curved brackets and coved rafter tails add a sculptural element.

Inside, the first floor displays hand-hewn white oak timbers reclaimed from barns across southeastern Wisconsin, paired with cypress ceiling cladding salvaged from turn-of-the-century pickle factory tanks.

The screened porch highlights even larger hand-hewn white oak timbers, banded in steel for a striking contrast. Above, the ceiling is clad in heart pine, reclaimed from the historic American Tobacco factory in Greenville, North Carolina.
