Twenty-seven years later Urban Evolutions is proud to feature our latest “evolutions” in reclaimed and decorative wood products at NeoCon, the premier event for the commercial design industry. This time around, we’ve infused our offerings with a decidedly modern twist.
Dimant Medallion Wood Wall Panel Wins 2024 MetLikes Award
Urban Evolutions is thrilled to receive its first MetLikes Award. Presented by Metropolis Magazine, this award recognizes products that demonstrate excellence in innovation, functionality, and sustainability.
The Dimant Medallion wall panel checks all the boxes. It takes the tradition of wood wall paneling, which is typically designed by a millworker, and creates a modular system that is easily customizable. The grid wall panel system features framed trim work and beautiful book-matched veneer panels. Each intersection showcases a dimensional, concave diamond-shaped medallion.
In terms of sustainability, this product is made in the USA, Declare Label Red List Approved and manufactured with solid wood and MDF that exceeds the Eco-Certified Composites Standard. It is also part of Urban’s manufacturing takeback program.
“We are incredibly honored to receive the MetLikes Award,” said Robin Janson, president and creative director of Urban Evolutions. “This recognition is important as we are eager to share our expanded view of the warmth and visual impact that wood can have on walls and ceilings.”
Select Heart Ash in the Latest Issue of Metropolis Magazine
In addition to the MetLikes award, Metropolis Magazine featured Urban Evolutions’ Select Heart Ash wood wall paneling in the latest issue.
“As part of the Metropolis Wood Guide, we discuss how our modernist twist on reclaimed wood is contributing to the critical role of wood in material circularity,” says Janson.
Urban Evolutions’ ash is sourced from reclaimed city trees and showcases an unedited, character-rich grain appearance that sets it apart from traditional veneer. This approach further allows minimal wood waste, which supports the company’s focus on underutilized wood sourcing. The custom grain mix and finish are designed to evoke the warm tones and characteristics of white oak, allowing ash to become an eco-responsible alternative.
“These recognitions by one of the leading voices in sustainable architecture and design keeps the wind in our sails,” says Janson.
