When the Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery closed nearly 20 years ago, loyal Wisconsinites held onto hope that the beloved brand would return to Milwaukee someday. So when the company announced in July that they are planning to open a microbrewery at the former Pabst Brewing complex, we ‘Sconnies raised a toast.

Earlier in the year, M&M Office Interiors, a Pewaukee based commercial design firm, approached us about furnishing conference tables and work stations for a fortune 500 company headquartered in Wisconsin. The goal was to incorporate sustainable materials that were unique and told a story for their new IT Operations Center in Silicon Valley. It was no surprise that they loved the thought of taking a piece of the iconic Wisconsin PBR brand with them to the west coast. Massive heart pine planks were used to build two conference tables, material that was once structural decking in the original Pabst Brewery. It was a great way to give a second life to the near 4″ thick heart pine which had served the factory well for nearly 175 years.

Here are some photos of the material and a finished table:

And just in case you are one of those loyal PBR fans, the new brewery and tasting room are scheduled to open next year.
